Joan Pearson was Ken Stanger, our first principal's secretary. Joan served throughout Mr. Stanger's entire time until he retired and worked with Mr. Dave Pitman until 1985. Joan had fond memories of her time at Lynbrook. She fondly remembers from the very beginning as far back as even when Joan, Mr. Stanger, and others walked on plywood floors as they all gathered to explore the building site and discuss plans.

Joan was always a leader in keeping the staff involved. She once had a group of Lynbrook secretaries and other secretarial staff within the Adminstration building  who met and enjoyed spirited gatherings, building collegiality and spirit and just enjoying each other. They were called the Lynbrook Lovelies.

Joan was very fond of the many students through the years who attended Lynbrook. And yes, so many of us were very fond of her.

In Joan's younger years, Joan had been in a marching band, cheerleader, diver, water skier, lifeguard, swim instructor, and elementary school teacher, But Joan always felt working at Lynbrook was her best years. She was so proud of Lynbrook and the fact all of her children were graduates of Lynbrook High School.

From all of us who attended Lynbrook during your time, we are proud to have known you, we love you and miss your smile, your heart, the love and passion, and your unwavering commitment and support to make us all better people.

Although we cannot see you, your spirit lives on as we celebrate our Lynbrook heritage this August.
