Water Polo Reunion on Friday Night
The alumni water polo players will be getting together on Friday August 8th 2003 at 6:30PM at the Westin Santa Clara Hotel Tresca Lounge. This is the same place that the class of '73 will be meeting. If you're in that class you'll get to attend both. If you're not a graduate from the class of '73, stay away from those party animals! Food and drinks are cash-and-carry. This will get the reunion weekend off to a great start.

The Game
Currently the game is scheduled to be played Sunday at 1:30. Rules are still being adjusted to keep the game fair for the youth but to allow easy substitution for the alumni.

How This Came About
While working on the reunion planning committee for Family Day we recently had a mother of one of the current LHS polo players contact us. She had an interesting idea that will be addressed in just a moment. On the reunion committee are members who used to play and enjoy LHS Water Polo and a conversation commenced about how fun it would be to visit with all of the old team members. Their minds started going down the track of a Water Polo Reunion.

Now, back to the mother that had contacted us. She's looking to try and raise money for the polo teams due to a large cut in funding that's currently happening to the schools. She's talked to Steve Barnett, the current coach at Lynbrook (some of you may have known him from being the coach at Cupertino and/or playing on the DeAnza Aquatic Foundation and the 1972 Olympic polo team) and they've come up with a challenge game with the current girls & boys team against a "Reunion All-Stars" team.

The All-Star team will consist of any alumni polo player who still thinks they can float for more than 30 seconds. This game will happen at Family Day, Sunday, August 10. We have been told that the youth are taking this so seriously that 5 of them have signed up for summer water polo camp just to prepare! (Game rules would probably be altered a bit for those who can't stay afloat in their latter years & also to make it fun for all participants and the audience. It's also been advised that most should not were Speedos and that maybe inner-tubes and arm floatties be provided.)

The current team members, with help from their parents, will be selling food stuff all day at the reunion activity. We would also probably pass a hat around for contributions from any alumni who would like to make a donation.

Who Has Been Contacted
Names have been compiled of both Varsity and JV team members from 1967-1974 yearbooks. Available researce ended there with no clue who played from 1975 - 1979, so it would be helpful to get those names. We have lots of names (153), but very few pieces (27) of contact information.

Update (August 1, 2003):
The following are alumni who have been contacted and will probably attend:

Bill Adkison Bob Hogan Jeff Devlin
Wes Weiner Gary Brown Phil Clark
Randy Armstrong Kevin Lettire Randy Homan
Randy Christensen Warren Schenstrom Lee Rider

The following are alumni we've attempted contact with but have not received confirmation yet:
