All information
forwarded to me about the meeting has been extremely positive! As we
are now inside a year from the reunion, many goals were set.
Committee
Reorganization
There was a reorganization of the committee structure, due to the fact that Brian
Stuckey and Dale Brunett have stepped down from their positions due to conflicts
in schedule.
I know this must
have been an extremely difficult decision to make. However, we wish
them both well. They have been an inspirationally driving force behind
getting this reunion off the ground! We are hoping they will lend their
advice and assistance in future planning.
The new committee
members include:
- Randy Christensen
(70)
- Rick Figueroa
(73)
- Trish Kane (74)
- Paul Keswick
(75)
In addition, Sheila
Cabrinha Chestnutt (68) has been appointed treasurer, Patricia Morrissey
(78) has been appointed Marketing chair, with Steve Edmonds (78) co-chair.
Legal advice is being handled by Sandi Ushkow Nichols (74). See what
talent lies in the LHS alumni!
Date
is Set
The committee reconfirmed the reunion weekend… August 8-10, 2003. The
Santa Clara Convention Center has been reserved and a deposit has been
made for the Joe Sharino Band. Sheila Cabrinha Chestnutt opened a LHS
Vikings Reunion checking account and post office box. This is in preparation
for upcoming reservations. The date that reservations will be accepted
is to be announced shortly. Committee members are awaiting final confirmation
of a non-profit status. As soon as that process is completed, reservations
may be made by check to the post office box OR on-line with PayPal.
The final bit of
information (I know…I'm getting better… a little shorter?): the reunion
web site will soon include links to the other mini-events our fellow
alumni are working on. The committee wants to make it clear that these
are separate from the reunion as far as the planning and liabilities
go. However, they are enthusiastic and supportive of these efforts to
reunite alumni. At this point, we have the golf tournament (Scott Bigness
77, would love some help in planning this event… any suggestions on
location?), Poker Run (Len Ball 77, seems to be coming right along on
those plans) and a possible Jam Session (crossing our fingers for the
King of the Bammies, Dennis Erokan 68 to help us with that one…).
Appreciation
to Brian & Dale
Before I close, I really want to reiterate my appreciation to Brian and Dale for
getting this reunion off and running and my blessings go to them as they catch
up on their lives! And thanks to Rick, Randy, Trish and Paul for continuing on.
I am so excited about the reunion (as if you hadn't noticed)… and these are the
people responsible for seeing Brian's vision come to life! I appreciate their
enthusiastic involvement… They all ROCK! (P.S. Brian asked me to remove the part
about this being his vision, because he said it is the work of so many. This is
true, however, like I told him… I feel like he stepped out on a limb…got the ball
rolling and made this unbelievable idea seem possible… and for that we deeply
thank him. That's the best I can do Brian!)
