When girls could wear pants to school! So much better than
having to crouch down with a mini dress or skirt on because they
were very short. Mine were anyway lol

Mr. Ocano, English teacher, took us to see 2001: Space Odyssey.
And we used to listen to Alice's Restaurant, but he asked us not
to tell anyone. He was one of the most amazing teachers I've
ever had. This was in 1969 maybe?

Wow, my most vivid memory was smoking a fat one in the parking
lot before school and thinking that this was probably a bad
idea. And it was. I sat in English class feeling like everyone
knew I was high and fixating on the teachers hair-do-a ponytail
that she flipped forward and secured like a birds nest on top
her head. And I remember thinking that they were serving tuna
fish sandwiches for lunch and as the buzz faded, getting me one
of those sandwiches felt urgent.

Class of 1980 chiming in here: I loved the Come Sail Away mural
painting in the parking and all the fun parties, lol. Star Wars,
being on the drill team as a Valkyrie and seeing the play
Brigadoon numerous times because I had a crush on the lead...
the BEST memories I have of my days at Lynbrook are the
teachers. Jim Forthoffer was so cool. I remember he almost got
fired for wearing shorts to school! I loved Novel class with Mr.
Goodman (I think), we read some amazing books, my favorite was
William Goldman's "The Princess Bride"(way before the movie came
out). American Women class with Ms. Hartley was empowering and
"Living on Your Own" class was kind of fun. We had to get
"married" to a classmate and plan our finances among other
things. Mr. Thornburg always got annoyed with me for talking too
much but I got all A's and helped with the cross country meets.
I ended up becoming a high school teacher myself (Spanish) many
years down the road and it brought back memories of my own
teachers back in high school. The only yearbook I still have is
from junior year but I think that year '78-79 was my favorite
anyway. Lot's of fun memories. Hope to see some of you in 2024!

Playing under the lights against Cupertino in Powder Puff
football. I can still see JennyLynn diving for a pass across the
middle and sliding in the mud! Big fun.
