Hello LHS Grads:
The LHS Reunion Committee held its April meeting at Tony Roma’s Restaurant on Saratoga Ave in San Jose. Again, it was a great meeting and all of us had a good and productive time. I would like to thank the staff of Tony Romas Restaurant for an outstanding job in accommodating us.
Attendee’s
Rick Figueroa 1973, Randy Christensen 1970, Trish Kane 1974, Paul Keswick 1975, Terry Tyson Keswick 1975, Rob Karr 1968, Steve Edmonds 1978, Kathy Browne Adams 1977, Doug Martin 1977, Sue Fitzpatrick 1978, Greg Andrews 1973, Susan Endelman 1972, and Tracy Jenkins Wood 1973, Brad Moss 1976, Doug Martin 1977.
This month’s special appreciation is awarded to Sue Fitzpatrick, our treasurer who has the task of managing all of the ticket sales. She has done an outstanding job and has been a real asset to this committee. With out Sue, our jobs would have been much more difficult in managing the most important part in planning this reunion. Sue, thank you very much! I would like to thank the rest of the committee members, who also have done a great job. I know your hard work will be rewarded in August.
Summary
3 Months! That’s it! And the fun begins. Most of you who visit the website on a regular basis are aware that the reunion will be held August 8th, 9th and 10th 2003. All plans are being implemented by each event coordinator. You might want to refresh your memories of all the events by browsing the events pages of this site and the minutes from previous months planning, located on the reunion planning page.
Topics of discussion were as follows
A. Insurance
B. Security
C. Ticket Sales
D. Events Personnel
E. Activities
F. New Message Boards
The LHS Reunion committee has an insurance binder with Tri Valley Insurance Services of Carmichael, California. For details on this policy, you may contact any of the members of the LHS Steering Committee
The Gala Event and Family Day will have security for everyone’s safety including Police Officers and private security officers. For details, please contact Trish Kane or Randy Christensen.
The LHS Reunion Committee will need personnel to handle positions such as registration etc. Some of the Committee members have volunteered their children 21 years and older to support us with this task. If you would like to help with personnel needs, please contact me ASAP.
Other activities that were discussed for family day are volley ball and a water polo tournament between the water polo team and us lets say, veterans.
New Message Board
The LHS Committee will introduce a new message board on May 1st to replace the current one. The purpose was due to alumni dissatisfaction of the current board. Attendance had dropped more then 50%. The new boards will be more users friendly and will not require having a password to post. You may try the new boards now at http://www.bulletinboards.com/view.cfm?comcode=112263
Gala Event & Family Day
As you know these are the main events of this special reunion. Trish Kane is doing a fantastic job in planning our Gala Event and Rob Karr handling the Family Day. The highlights are listed on the Gala and Family Day pages. I know that they are working hard with planning and if you would like to get involved with planning, I am sure they would be glad to hear from you.
Golf Event
On Friday August 8th there will be a golf tournament (Notice) at the Los Lagos Golf Course with Scott Hathaway (1979) leading this activity. All alumni are invited who play golf and are encouraged to attend. If you intend to participate, please contact me at rfigueroa@lhsvikingsreunion.com and Scot at scot.hathaway@lhsvikingsreunion.com by May 17t. We do need to know how many participants we have so we can make the proper arrangements to accommodate. This is a beautiful golf course and one of the finest in San Jose. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to show your golfing skills, or just come out and have fun. Remember, this is a self funded event with additional cost. For details, contact Scott.
Reunion Ride
For those of you, who would prefer a cool day on a bike, may want to participate in the Reunion Ride of 2003 . This is going to be a blast and I am sure if you don’t have a bike, one of our fellow grads will let you ride with them. Again, this is a self funded event and additional cost is involved. We do need a head count so please contact me or Samson Wolfe atswolfe@portpack.com by May 17th. . Knowing many of my fellow grads, I am sure there are going to be some fine looking bikes out there. You won’t want to miss this.
Ticket Sales
Ticket sales have been tremendous in the last month. Fellow grads purchased over 120 tickets in just the last month. This is the result of many grads getting excited as we approach the big weekend. Also, the efforts of all the class reps who worked hard in contacting alumni and getting the word out by telephone calls, email and some with postal mail, purchasing stamps out of their own pockets. A fantastic effort by an outstanding committee.
Yes tickets are still available. The current price is at $ 65.00 per ticket which covers both events. A bargain for such an awesome event. Tickets will be available until June 15th 2003. No tickets will be sold at the door. So hurry and buy your tickets ASAP. You may send a check to the Lynbrook PO Box or for your convenience, use Pay Pal.
Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on May 17th at 1:00PM again at Tony Romas located at 4233 Moorpark Ave just off of Saratoga Ave in San Jose, Ca. As always everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. It always fun to see new faces as well as those who come every month. Come and join us!
Just a Thought
With just 3 months to go before the big reunion, more and more I look forward to this special time. And that is just what it is, a special time. A one time opportunity having all of us together at one time.. With our busy lives and so much going on in the world, still, I ask all of you, where else would you rather be then at the reunion? Being part of this special moment. Something that most likely will never happen again. No matter whom you were in school, what crowd you hung out with, what grades you got, if your high school years were the best years of your life or not so great, you were part of Lynbrook and part of my life and others even if we didn’t know each other. You were special then and you are special now. The older we become, the more we realize the friends we had, the memories, experiences we shared, are moments to be cherished to our dying day. Otherwise they simply get lost somewhere in time.
There is plenty of room for you and we want you to be there. Don’t miss this for anything. It won’t be the same without you. If you haven’t purchased your tickets, do so today. If you have decided not to attend, please reconsider. I am sure you will be glad you did. We look forward to seeing all of you there.
